Oilprint is one of the historical manipulative techniques based on sensitivity of chromium salts. Along with gumprint, carbon transfer and its sister the bromoil it is at the very core of alternative, manipulative processes. Oilprint offers amazing manual control over the created image at the same time offering great detail and ultimate permanence of the resulting image.
Contrary to gumprint and carbon transfer, it doesn’t contain any pigment in the coloidal layer itself. The image is created, or rather brought out, with ink manually brought onto the gelatin matrix created during exposure.
